The largest earthquake in 200 years has devastated Haiti, and the death toll could reach thousands.  This is an emergency– news correspondents in Haiti are calling it “worse than a war-zone.”  Please text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross (it will be added to your phone bill).

Want to donate more or less than $10?  Here are  other easy ways to help (reposted from Huffington):

•UNICEF requests donations for relief for children in Haiti via their Haiti Earthquake Fund. You can also call 1-800-4UNICEF.

•Donate through Wyclef Jean’s foundation, Yele Haiti. Text “Yele” to 501501 and $5 will be charged to your phone bill and given to relief projects through the organization.

Operation USA is appealing for donations of funds from the public and corporate donations in bulk of health care materials, water purification supplies and food supplements which it will ship to the region from its base in the Port of Los Angeles. Donate online at, by phone at 1-800-678-7255 or, by check made out to Operation USA, 3617 Hayden Ave, Suite A, Culver City, CA 90232.

Sent my check. Its great to see relief pouring in from countries all over the world. There is still hope for mankind. Very few places are as poorly equipped as Haiti to deal with a natural disaster like this and they certainly need the help.

looks like I’m the only one unstable enough to mention HAARP. *sigh* Must cure this somehow. But really. Haiti? One half of Hispaniola?

Also wanted to pass on this link to Architecture for Humanity. They are in for the long haul to help rebuild Haiti.
